North Dakota
About Us
The three organizations that make up Kappa Psi in North Dakota operate with different purposes. However, all have the same mission of advancing the profession of pharmacy through social and professional development. At the core of this is the collegiate Beta Sigma Chapter of Kappa Psi, where future pharmacists receive a well rounded scholastic and social education. They create relationships and memories that last a lifetime.

The North Dakota Graduate Chapter of Kappa Psi provides the opportunity to continue the friendships of one's college days while forming new bonds with those who came before and after. It also serves to further the social and professional goals of Beta Sigma through mentorship.

The Kappa Psi Alumni Group and Kappa Psi Alumni Group Foundation serve to foster an environment for Beta Sigma to succeed. They provide for the maintenance and improvement of the chapter house and financial assistance for the Brothers of Beta Sigma.

Harvey was initiated in Beta Sigma in December of 1979 and served in various offices including Kitchen Manager, House Manager and Vice-Regent before graduating with a B.S. in Pharmacy in 1983. He worked in retail pharmacy at Greene Drug in Dickinson, ND then Revco Drugs in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. He returned to NDSU in 1986 to pursue a PharmD, graduating in 1988. He was the Clinical Pharmacist at St. Joseph Hospital in Dickinson for 2 years before accepting a faculty position at Southeastern College of Pharmacy in North Miami Beach, FL for one interesting year before taking a faculty position at NDSU. During this time he served as the Grand Councilor Deputy for Beta Sigma. He left NDSU in 2001 and moved to Bismarck where he worked to establish outpatient clinical programs for the Gateway Pharmacies (Bismarck and Mandan) and the ND Pharmacies (Dickinson and Williston). In 2004, Harvey established the pharmacy program at ND Workforce Safety & Insurance (workers’ compensation) in Bismarck. Harvey served as the Treasurer of KPAG for six years until being elected Chair. He was instrumental in the rechartering of the ND Graduate Chapter, having served as the first Regent of the rechartered chapter. Throughout all of this he has been fortunate to have had many wonderful opportunities. By virtue of the alphabet, Harvey was the first PharmD graduate at NDSU (class of two), the first immunizing pharmacist in the state, and served two five-year terms on the North Dakota Board of Pharmacy. He is a past President of the ND Society of Health-System Pharmacists and the ND Pharmacists Association. Harvey is an ordained deacon serving the parishioners of St. Hildegard Catholic Church in Menoken, ND and Church of the Sacred Heart in Wilton, ND. He is an avid homebrewer, enjoys cruising in the Caribbean with his wife, Meg, and spending time at the lake.

Outside of Kappa Psi, Melissa works as an inpatient pharmacist at Sanford Health in Fargo where she has recently completed her PGY1 residency. After being initiated into Beta Sigma in November of 2013, Brett served as House Manager, Social Chair, Vice-Regent of Fundraising, and Vice-Regent. Outside of Kappa Psi, he enjoys golfing, hockey, and time at the lake.

Mark Dewey
Faculty Advisor, Class of 1999
Mark Dewey, Pharm.D., BCGP, FASCP, was initiated into Beta Sigma in 1995. His pledge father was the late Tony Godfrey, who we all miss so very much. He graduated NDSU in 1999 and then was a pharmacist at Iverson Corner Drug and Progressive Health Care in Bemidji, MN for 4 years before starting his current faculty position at NDSU. Mark is an Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice at NDSU School of Pharmacy, consultant pharmacist with Consultant Pharmacists Inc., and is a clinical pharmacist at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls. He serves as the Residency Program Director for the ASHP PGY1 Residency that is based at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls. He is a long-time member of the pharmacy organizations ASCP, MPhA, ASHP, and NDSHP. He and his wife, Chelle, live on Tipsinah Mounds golf course outside of Elbow Lake, MN and have 3 children. He has coached multiple youth baseball & basketball teams for his kids (fittingly they are best at golf) and now gets to be a spectator. He serves on many local boards and committees. Other outside activities include camping with the family and helping with harvest on the family farm.
